In depth · Summary of the source

Scuderia Ferrari HP and IBM have added new AI-powered features to the Scuderia Ferrari mobile app ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Key facts

What was done

The new Race Timeline shows the key moments of each session in a scrollable visual feed, such as pit stops, fastest laps, weather changes or a Virtual Safety Car. Race Summaries use watsonx AI agents to write recaps of the team's performance after every session. The app was built with IBM Bob and IBM Consulting Advantage, using 70+ reusable AI skills and 30+ agents.

Results

Per IBM, the tools raised productivity in the app's development lifecycle by 30% (measured during the Monza and Madrid Grands Prix). After the app relaunch in May 2025, internal measurement showed 35% more cumulative downloads, 36% more average monthly active users and 35% more engaged sessions in the first year. The source is IBM's own press release.

Why it matters

Ferrari wants to bring its global community of nearly 400 million Tifosi closer to the team, and uses AI agents to turn complex race data into stories fans can follow straight after each session.
